MATERIAL ARRANGEMENT FOR THE NEXT SEMESTER

Dear, My students, NEW VII GRADERS.
Here is my course outline held in the next semester. Please make the preparation by finding any references related to the COURSE OUTLINE. Any questions can be sent via comments

WRITING:DESCRIBING SOMEONE

The following is a list of sentences about what a postman does for his job. Arrange these sentences into a good paragraph. Number 1 is the first sentence in the paragaph.

1. Mr Takashimura is a postman.
2. He stops working at 2 p.m.
3. Every day he delivers letters to many people.
4. He works at the Central Post Office.
5. He is happy to be a postman.
6. Then he continues to the addresses far from his
office.
7. He usually starts his job at 8 a.m.
8. First, he goes to the addresses near his office.

Think of someone you know. Write a description. Say who they are, where they come from and what their jobs are. Submit your work tomorrow.

SPEAKING: Asking and giving something



Read the following dialogues.
  • Lely : Oki, pass me the salt, please.
  • Oki : Here you are, Lely.

  • Mr Dudy : Sir, could you please get me the Encyclopedia volume 5 above? It’s too high, I can’t reach it.
  • Librarian : Yes, certainly, Sir. I’ll get it for you.

  • Mr Gunadi : Vivian, bring me the newspaper from the table, please.
  • Vivian : It’s coming, Daddy.

  • Nesya : Tukirah, take this glass to the kitchen.It’s dirty.
  • Tukirah : Yes, Miss Nesya.
  • Dimas : Mom, I will go swimming this afternoon. Could you give me some money please?
  • Mother : OK. I’ll give you some money.

Asking something:
  • Can you give me ....
  • Take me that ....
  • Could you please ....
  • Would you kindly ....
Response;
  • Sure. Glad to help.....

Make some dialogues where someone is asked to do something. Work in pairs the practise them with your friend. Perform your dialogs the day after tomorrow in our English Class.

  5. On the film cut below, there are expressions of "Asking someone to do something" and the response. What are they ?

READING

READING, GENRE: DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

Descriptive Text, Teks Deskriptif, adalah teks yang mendiskripsikan, menggambarkan, atau menguraikan tentang sesuatu, misalnya benda, orang ataupun tempat tertentu. Uraian teks ini biasanya meliputi karakteristik, jenis, bentuk, fungsi dan hal-hal terperinci tentang “sesuatu” tersebut.

Ciri-ciri Descriptive Text:

1. Struktur umumnya (generic structure) terdiri dari:

  • Identification: Bagian (kalimat) yang memperkenalkan (introducing) sesuatu.
  • Description: Bagian yang berisi uraian atau gambaran tentang sesuatu tersebut, misalnya tentang jenis dan bentuknya.

2. Grammatical Features umumnya tenses “simple present”
3. Isi teks fokus pada pembahasan terperinci mengenai sesuatu atau benda yang dimaksud.

Contoh Descriptive Text:

THE WHITE HOUSE

One of the most famous buildings in Washington D.C. is the White House. It is the home of the president of the United States.

The White House is a very large white building. It has three main parts, namely the main building and two wings (west and east wings). The main building has large central porches. The porches have tall columns. Large lawns and gardens surround the White House.
